I'm Back Up in Weight...you have got to be kidding me

So—after getting off track AGAIN, my weight is back up.  It was only a few days of overindulgence and the weight came on like a thief in the night.  My weight right now, at night, with clothes on, is back up to 172.4.

Also--- after almost two months of no coffee, I had a latte L.   And Oh my word, wow I love caffeine.  So it’s back in my life, in moderation that is.  But I am still committed to being sugar free and eating clean.  I’ve found that writing my food down the night before and packing it up/ having it prepped, is an excellent way to stay on track.  Here is my food for tomorrow:

Breakfast:

-Oatmeal Frittata:

·         1 egg

·         1 ounce of cheese,

·         1 ounce of raw oatmeal

·         6 ounces of diced tomatoes

·         salt & pepper

-5 ounces of black coffee with 8 ounces of 1% milk (latte de mi casa)

Lunch:

-12 ounces of steamed broccoli and cauliflower

-4 ounces of baked chicken seasoned

-4 ounces of rice

-1 ounce of almond oil

Dinner:

Asian Salad
·         12 ounces of raw broccoli slaw
·         4 ounces of chicken seasoned with tamari, ginger and garlic
·         1 ounce of walnut oil
·         4 ounces of rice
·         1 ounce of Annie’s Shiitake Sesame Vinaigrette dressing

Sugar Free Me Day 6

I’m so incredibly tired.  Exhausted to be exact.  I am experiencing sugar withdrawal.  They say that soon my body will be back to normal.  But I don’t even know what normal is because I have been stuffing myself with sugar and caffeine since---  well nearly forever.  This time I really want to walk away from it.  This time I really want to do it.  I wrote a post called Dear Sugar about a year ago.  My love affair with sugar has got to end.

Here is what I ate today—

Breakfast:
4 ounces of fresh pineapple
1 ounce of shredded wheat
8 ounces of plain yogurt
8 ounces of 1% milk

Lunch:
6 ounces of salad
6 ounces of black beans
6 ounces of corn
6 ounces of cooked peppers
1 ounce of olive oil
1 ounce of balsamic vinegar

Dinner:

Exercise--squeeze it in even during weekend family time

Here are some ideas for exercising when escaping to the gym is not feasible.  I find the weekends to be the most difficult time to get out of the house and go to the gym, mostly because the weekends are designated as family time.  If you have the same problem of venturing to the gym on the weekends, here are some ideas for squeezing in exercise while still staying engaged and available to your family.  Let me know your ideas too.

1.       Take the kids to an indoor trampoline park and actually join them in jumping rather than pressing your nose up against the glass watching your children bounce off the walls.

2.       Hide cheap toys around a park or trail near your house and engage the whole family in a treasure hunt to find the toys.  You could even run in place while your family is walking.  This isn’t one I have tried, but I think it could really be fun and fitness for the whole fam.

3.       Run around the outside of a small playground while you watch your children play at the playground.  Also do pull-ups or hanging leg lifts on the monkey bars.

4.       Go to the zoo and take your pedometer.  Try to get in at least 5,000 steps before you leave.

5.       Ride a stationary exercise bike or walk on the treadmill while your family watches a family movie.

6.       On Sunday evening, after you’ve probably already cooked a lunch for your family, throw a frozen lasagna in the oven and do 60 minutes of cardio housecleaning while the lasagna cooks.  You’ve likely already cooked once that day and the lasagna is an easy way to feed dinner to your hungry brood.  Also you will still be in the house, so you can assist your children in finding toys (while you run in place of course) and help your husband find the remote and a basket of laundry to fold. :)

Treat Yourself to a Luxurious Home Pedicure

When losing weight or trying to maintain a healthy weight, it is so important to take care of yourself and make yourself look presentable.  I used to think I would wait to become skinny and perfect before I would buy nice clothes and undergo beauty treatments, but I’ve found that beauty treatments help you feel good about yourself, which is so essential to staying on the healthy eating wagon.

My husband tends to be a bit of a bean counter when it comes to getting my nails, hair, lashes, etc. done every month.  He thinks it’s a waste of money.  Well if you have a penny pincher husband like me, one way you can trim your beauty budget is doing your pedicures a su casa.  Here are some tips for doing a presentable home pedicure.

1.       Go to Sally’s Beauty Supply or the like, and pick up some decent polish.  I recently opted for the “Finger Paints” brand because it was a little cheaper than Orly & OPI, but still in my opinion, solid professional polish.

2.       Get a good foot file.  I prefer Ped Egg brand files because they are cheap and reliable.  Actually, I find them to be more effective at scraping off dead skin than the salon buffers.

3.       ******By some callus softner.  One great brand is Heel to Toe from the Spa Pedicure Collection.  It works great.  I think callus softner makes a huge difference in stretching your beauty budget, it works as good as the stuff from the salon.

4.       Soak your feet and push back that cuticle.

The result is flip flop worthy toes and money to spare for your eyelash extentions.

Green Chili Cheese Fries Cravings... stay away

There is absolutely no need to go to Goodtimes and order their green chili cheese fries.  If you do--you will crave them until you give in again.  I’m just saying-- if you haven’t had them, there is no need to screw up your diet and try them. J
